EKN provides export credit guarantees at the highest risk category (7/7) for Swedish companies exporting reconstruction goods, services, and defence materiel to Ukraine. Up to 95% coverage (general) or 100% (defence).
Two Facilities
EKN's Ukraine facilities provide Swedish exporters with government-backed guarantees at the highest risk category. The general facility covers reconstruction exports up to 95%, while the defence facility covers 100% for Swedish defence materiel at subsidised premiums.

Frequently Asked
How does the defence facility work?
Covers up to 100% of guaranteed commitments at subsidised premiums. The Ukrainian state must pay 30% advance payment before EKN coverage applies to the remaining 70%. Buyer must be the Ukrainian state.
Is the per-company limit flexible?
Yes — if funds remain available by 1 July 2026, the SEK 300M per-company limit is waived for the general facility.
How long can credit periods be?
Payments must fall due by 2035 (extended from 2028 in June 2025), giving significant flexibility for longer-term projects.
Is this renewed annually?
The facilities are set through government ordinance. The general facility ceiling was doubled from SEK 888M to SEK 1,776M. Political direction strongly supports continuation.
How do I apply?
Submit a standard EKN guarantee application. For defence: mandatory pre-consultation with EKN before submitting. Applications processed first-come-first-served.
Can non-Swedish subsidiaries apply?
The facility is designed for Swedish exporters. A Swedish subsidiary of a foreign company would in principle count — confirm directly with EKN.
